The Paper Tower & The Helium Stick

On 13th of June 2018 as Software Engineering undergraduates we had our GNCT lecture and on that day we had an awesome task. That was to build a paper tower with a maximum height. But we had to complete the task with minimum resources and within a given limited time. By the way we were divided into 3 groups. Also we were given two white papers,four color papers and a sellotape to perform the task.

After our lecturer explained the task we discussed and camp up with a plan to succeed this task. Then we draw a sketch and began to do our task with a proper plan. First we focused base of the tower. As we discussed, we made our base stronger. All the members in the group supported to this task and done their part. Also with team effort we completed our task within the given time period successfully.

We also managed to build the tower to a considerable height. But it was much shorter when compared to other two groups.

Even though our tower was shorter, we managed to secure the first place in this task. That was mainly due to our basement of tower. Our base was strong and towers of other group fell down when they were blown away.

At the end of the session for that day, we were given a stick, which we had to balance it from one of our fingers and being in only two groups, five in each and standing in opposite sides. We had to raise the stick above our heads. This challenge was known as the Helium Stick and this was quite challenging because the stick was slippery and we had to constantly adjust our phase according to the speed of other members of the team.

We all learned a lot from above mentioned activities. Those are,

• Managing time according to the situation.
• Presenting a best product with limited resources.
• Team spirit.
• Respecting to other team members' ideas.

Ultimately we had an awesome session and we were very pleased with those activities.
